Transit
Qualified
Pet Services offers a transit service for quarantine cats and dogs
flying long distances and requiring a 'rest stop' in Auckland.
What
needs to be done first:
The owner must apply for an import permit, for the country the cat(s)/dog(s)
will be going to.
The pet transporter or agent needs to contact us and ask if we have
room to accommodate - tell us how many -cat(s)/dog(s) for a transit
stop, and give us the date(s) need. When the pet transporter or agent
receives the 'OK' from us, they then need to contact MAF in Wellington
and request an application form for a transit permit. Written proof
that we can transit your cat(s)/dog(s) on the date(s) required will
need to be given to MAF. MAF will then send a transit application
form to the pet transporter or agent. Fill out the application form,
and send it back to MAF along with a copy of the import permit for
the country the cat(s)/dog(s) will be going to. MAF will send the
pet transporter or agent the transit permit. A copy of the transit
permit then needs to be sent to us, so we can present it to MAF at
the airport when the cats(s)/dog(s) arrive.
We will bring the cat(s)/dog(s) to our facility. Whilst here the cats(s)/dog(s)
will be provided with food, water and an opportunity to go to the
toilet. A bed will be set up ready for the cat(s)/dog(s) to have a
rest, before going on to their final destination.
We offer all the comforts that our regular quarantine cats and dogs
receive. We will change the newspaper and bedding (if wet), so the
crate will be dry and comfortable. If the crate requires resealing
by MAF, this will be done, and the cat(s)/dog(s) will be delivered
back to the airport ready to board the plane and continue their journey
to their final destination.
